Obituary

PERCY, Mary "Elizabeth" Rowley, 62, of Percy, passed away at 6:45 P.M. Saturday, May 02, 2009, at her home in Percy, IL. Mary Elizabeth was born March 01, 1947 in Metropolis, Illinois the daughter of Henry Walton "H.W." Holifield and Verna (Dye) Holifield. She married Gary Rowley in Brookport, Illinois on September 29, 1973. Mrs. Rowley taught school at Lincoln School from 1969-1973 in Pana, IL. She was retired from Trico School District after 24 1/2 years of service. She was a member of the Frist christian Church in Sparta; the Trico Education Association and the Illinois Educator Association. Mrs. Rowley loved and appreciated her time at the Trico School and always cherished her memories of friends and students. She is survived by her husband Gary Rowley of Percy; two sons, Shad (Angela) Rowley of Aurora, IL and Sage (Kristen) Rowley of Effingham, IL; two sisters, Margie (Boyd) Kinsley of Lansing, MT and Marie (Robert "Hawk") Taylor of Murray, KY; two brothers, Wayne (Pat) Holifield of Mississippi and Steven (Susie) Holifield of Bloomington, IL; a special friend, Marilyn Heine and many friends at Trico. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at First Christian Church in Sparta with Rev. Erik Helm will be officiating. Burial will be private at the Percy Village Cemetery in Percy. It was Mrs. Rowley's wishes to be cremated. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Percy on Saturday from 5 to 8 pm. The preferred forms of rememberence are donations to the Randolph County Humane Society or the First Christian Church in Sparta.
