MURPHYSBORO – Mary Ellen Pierson, 81, of Murphysboro, passed away at 7:12 pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.

Mary was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on December 30, 1940, the daughter of William and Pauline (Brumley) Stewart.  She married Randle Gene Pierson on December 17, 1960, he passed away on December 30, 2004.  Mary was former co-owner of Pierson's Meat Market and was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, Murphysboro, IL.

Mary is survived by her children: Todd Pierson of Missouri, Teresa Wright of Murphysboro, IL; grandchildren: Warren (Karlianne) Pierson, Lucas (Elizabeth) Johnston, Tyler (Melissa) Wright, Trenton Wright; four great grandchildren, brother, Jim Stewart of Murphysboro, IL, sisters-in-law: Geraldine Reiman of Murphysboro, Dorothy (Glenn) Bryant of Murphysboro, IL; brothers-in-law; Darryl Huppert of Murphysboro, IL, George Frost of Murphysboro, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Randle Pierson, parents, two infant sisters: Wanda Mae and Pauline; sisters: Shirley Frost, Paula Huppert; brothers: William (Phyllis) Stewart, Jr., Frank Stewart; in-laws: Don (Jeanette) Pierson, Tross (Evelyn) Pierson, Norman (Elsie) Pierson and Kenneth Weldon Reiman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Donald Pierson, Jr, officiating.  Burial will follow at Murdale Garden of Memory Cemetery, Murphysboro.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Sunday from 5 - 7 pm, and on Monday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
