AVA – Mary Jane Guy, 83, of Ava, passed away at 4:38 pm, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Manor Court in Carbondale, Illinois.

Mary Jane was born in Ava, Illinois, on April 15, 1935, the daughter of William S. and Ada Jane Smith Popejoy.  She married Wilburn L. Guy on February 24, 1955 at Peoria, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on March 17, 2017.  She was a retired Cook from Trico School District and she was the Secretary at First Baptist Church in Ava for many years.   Mary Jane was a member of First Baptist Church in Ava.

Mary Jane is survived by four sons, Edward Guy of Campbell Hill, Thomas Guy of Ava, Douglas Guy of Ava, and Anthony Guy of Ava; one daughter, Deborah Guy of Steeleville; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Wilma Cross, Vera Cross, and Donna Walters.

Mary Jane was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava.  Burial will follow at Ava Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 am until 1 pm Sunday.  Memorials may be given to Ava Evergreen Cemetery.
