HERRIN - Mary Margaret Cox, 93, of Herrin, formerly of Ava, IL, passed away at 9:45 am, Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at her home in Herrin. Mrs. Cox was born in Carbondale, IL on August 1, 1919, the daughter of Roy and Mary Swallows Ogden. She married Daniel O. Cox on May 18, 1947 in Carbondale, IL. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2000. Mrs. Cox was a retired school teacher, homemaker and also previously worked at Cal Crest Jacket Factory in Murphysboro. She was a member of Crainville Baptist Church, Crainville, IL and the Red Hatters. Mrs. Cox is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Cox of Carbondale; two grandchildren, Roger (Lana) Allen of Marion, IL and Dayna (Rob) Will of St. Charles, MO; one great granddaughter, Lilly Louanne Will of St. Charles, MO; and one sister, Zidania Boucher of Murphysboro, IL. Mrs. Cox is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Betty Allen; one brother; and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Chuck Epperly officiating. Burial will follow in Cox Cemetery, Dixon Springs, IL. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 10 am. Memorials may be given to the Cox Cemetery Fund or First Baptist Church of Ava Building Fund.
