CARBONDALE - Mary E. Chavez, 73, of Carbondale, formerly of Ava, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 pm, Monday, September 1, 2014 at her daughter's home in Carbondale. Mary was born in Columbus, OH on April 27, 1941, the daughter of James and Fern Taylor Chatterton. She was a homemaker. Mary is survived by two daughters, Cyndi (Jimmy) Stearns of Carbondale, IL and Teri Muniz of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Lavon (Clint) Scheitler, Brandon Pratt, Bailey McCormick, Yvonne Muniz, Jeremy Muniz and Jaden Stearns; one great grandson; and her siblings, Sue Rumsey, Lani (Jay) Forney, Sonny Chatterton, Tim Chatterton, and Linda Chatterton. Mary was preceded in death by her Parents; and two sons, Robert Chavez and Robin Boone. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava from 10 am until Noon until Saturday, September 6, 2014. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
