AVA - Martin Giordano, Jr., 85, of Ava, passed away at 5:31 am, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Chester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chester, Illinois. Martin was born in Willisville, Illinois on July 2, 1928, the son of Martin, Sr. and Rosalie Bellucia Giordano. He married Jennie Wilshire on April 15, 1961 in Hammond, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2012. Martin was in the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Biolermaker. Martin was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Willisville; Boilermakers Local #363 of Belleville, Knights of Columbus #2921 of Pinckneyville, IL and Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553 of Chester. Martin is survived by one son, Martin III (Tina) Giordano of Ava; one daughter-in-law, Janice Eyer of Willisville; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Frank Giordano of Willisville; and three sisters, Rose Clough of Murphysboro, Marie Giordano of Willisville and Clarlyn Giordano of Willisville. Martin was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Eyer; and three sisters, Ann, Angie and Fran. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Willisville with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Friday with rosary being recited at 8 pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am until 9:45 am. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
