Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Marko Prpich, 88, of Steeleville, passed away at 11:53 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at his home in Steeleville.

Marko was born in Jamestown, Illinois on March 16, 1928, the son of Marko L. and Mary Tomljcanovic Prpich.  He was a retired Coal Mine Mechanic, having worked for Peabody Coal for 34 years.  Marko was a veteran of the US Army.  He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in France and Germany.  He was a member of the U.M.W. of A Local #1148 and a life member of BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville.

Marko is survived by two sisters, Rose Goodson of Oceanside, CA and Eva Plagens of Conroe, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Marko was preceded in death by Parents; four sisters, Amelia Gozdzialski, Mary Prpich, Jose Gossett, Virginia Palk Sarrett; and one brother, Frank Prpich.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville.  Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville.  Visitation will be from 10 am until 1 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
