STEELEVILLE – Mark Kranz, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.

Mark was born on August 13, 1952, in Hamilton, CA, the son of Leland F. and Dorothy (Rodewald) Kranz. He had worked at Spartan Printing – Bindery, Kraft Foods, and Gilster Mary Lee. Mark was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL,  Sons of the American Legion, BBK Post 480, Steeleville, IL, and a former member of Steeleville Fire Department. He enjoyed doing his hobbies. Mark proudly served on the fire department for many years and also served as a Fire Science Instructor. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed the rivalry with his St. Louis Cardinal fan friends.

Mark is survived by his children: Craig (Jessica) Kranz of Hollister, CA, Jodi (John) Theobald of Brentwood, TN, his grandchildren: Shelby and Emma Kranz, Sammuel Theobald, Chris (Cassie) Theobald, Elizabeth (Daniel) Schmidt; his 2 great grandchildren, his sister, Shelly (Garry) Roux of Collinsville, IL, and his sister-in-law, Karen Kranz of Chester, IL.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Clark.

Mark's wishes were for Cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, 2:00 - 5:00 pm, at the American Legion (small hall), Steeleville, IL.
