PERCY – Marita R. Hornbostel, 71, of Percy, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.

Marita was born October 19, 1954, in Red Bud, IL to Homer and Alvera (Dierks) Hornbostel. Marita formerly worked at Gilster Mary Lee, Steeleville, and DJ Store in Willisville. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill. Marita enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Marita is survived by her children: Amy (Joshua) Smith of Percy, IL, Jesse Hinds of Benton, IL; her grandchildren: Arianna Smith, Ethan Hinds, Jacob Hinds, Kaiden Hinds; her siblings: Daniel Hornbostel of Chester, IL, Narda Young of Percy, IL, Nyla (Jerry) Rednour of Percy, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Marita was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lovita, and a brother, Kent.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, 2:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Norlyn B. Bartens and Pastor Jesse Hinds officiating. Burial to follow at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Campbell Hill, IL. Visitation will be on Friday afternoon, where friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home.
