STEELEVILLE – Marilyn L. Fedderke, 85, was called to her Heavenly home on Thursday, June 24, 2021. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the home they were so proud of.
Marilyn was born June 3, 1936, to William & Mary (Miller) Wainscott in Springfield, Illinois. On March 17, 1957, she was confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. Later that same year, on August 17, 1957, Marilyn married Donald Ray Fedderke at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great granddaughters. She was also an accomplished, self-taught seamstress, sewing all the dresses for both daughter's weddings. Marilyn was a lifelong member of VFW Kaskaskia Post #3553 Ladies Auxiliary, Past Auxiliary President, and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #133 in Perryville, MO.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Tamara and husband Michael Salger of Steeleville; Sandra Fortner of Steeleville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Salger, Jennifer Cole, and Eric Fortner, all of Steeleville; and Brian & Gabrielle Fortner of Sparta. The sparkle in her eye was her four great granddaughters: Gracelynn & Lyllian Cole and Sophia & Isabella Fortner. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Lindsay of Springfield, brothers-in-law William Fedderke of Murphysboro, Roy and wife Marilyn Fedderke of Chester, and sister-in-law Ruth Fedderke of Steeleville. Marilyn also has many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband and love of her life, Don, son-in-law Clay Fortner; two brothers, Harry and Larry Wainscott; 2 sisters, Wilma Wainscott and Vivian Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 28, 2021, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, with Reverend Mark E Harriss officiating. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Friends may call 5–8 pm, Sunday, June 27, 2021, and 9-11 am, Monday, June 28, 2021, at the church.
