STEELEVILLE – Marie D. Lindenberg, 90, of Steeleville, passed away at 9:24 pm, Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

Marie was born in Palestine, Illinois on February 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Alex and Leona Runge Sternberg. She married Wilbert H. Lindenberg on June 29, 1946 in Walsh, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1983. Marie was retired from Sparta Community Hospital. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester, BBK American Legion Auxiliary Post #480 in Steeleville, Kaskaskia VFW Auxiliary Post #3553, Chester, and the AARP.

Marie is survived by her children, Janice (Richard) McIntyre of Sparta, Joanne Falkenheim of Steeleville, Ron (Connie) Lindenberg of Steeleville, and Randy (Joyce) Lindenberg of Steeleville; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 10 step great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie was also preceded in death by her Parents; one daughter, Karen; and one brother, Murry Sternberg.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Chester with Rev. Laura Kamprath officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday with an American Legion Auxiliary service at 7:30 pm and on Friday from 7:30 am until 9 am at the funeral home and from 10 am until 11 am at the church.
