Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Lydia Hartel, 84, of Steeleville passed away at 8:20 PM, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lydia was born on January 29, 1934, in Sparta the daughter of Elmer and Melba (Busche) Hapke. She married Floyd W. Hartel, on May 21, 1955, in Steeleville and they shared 42 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 30, 1997. Lydia was the Co – Owner of Niederbrach Truck Service, and helped with the family business. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, in Steeleville, and active with the various committees at the church.

Lydia is survived by her son; Bruce Hartel, of Steeleville, 3 granddaughters; April (Eric) Ehlers, of Campbell Hill, Kristin (Korey) Wedemeyer, of Percy, Laura (Joey) Tuetkin, of Campbell Hill, 4 great grandchildren; Ally and Casey Ehlers, and Karsen and Kolson Wedemeyer. She is also survived by a sister; Lou Ann Sickmeyer, of Campbell Hill, and sister – in – law; Marjorie Lampe, of Campbell Hill, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hartel was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, with Julie Posth, Parrish Ministry Assistant officiating, burial will follow at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Friday from 7:30 to 9 and from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at Peace Lutheran Church.
