STEELEVILLE, Lucille M. Sternberg, nee Castens, 94, of Steeleville, departed her earthly life at 8:45 A.M. Monday, February 23, 2009, at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, IL. She was born on May 21, 1914 in rural route Ava, IL the daughter of William C. and Ida (nee Otten) Castens. She married Carlos R. Sternberg on April 10, 1937 at Waterloo, IL, he passed away on June 28, 2000. Lucille dedicated her life to taking care of her late husband, parents, her brother and her nephew. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents, William C. and Ida (nee Otten) Castens; brothers, George, Sylvester, Wallace, Elvin and Arthur; a sister, Edith McGee and a sister, Blanche in infancy. Lucille is survived by her sister-in-laws, Laverna (George) Castens, LuAnn (Wallace) Castens, Mildred (Elvin) Castens, Loretta (Arthur) Castens, Lillian (Wilburn) Sternberg and Margaret (Eugene) Bixby; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Donna Miller. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Kyle Castens officiating. Burial will follow in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Friday and on Saturday from 7:30 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Steeleville Senior Center and will be received at the funeral home.
