AVA – Lou Gary Stout, 82, of Ava, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home in Ava, Illinois.

Gary was born on July 10, 1943, in Percy, IL to William and Leona (Mathis) Stout. He married Judy Lipe on January 10, 1960, in Carbondale, IL. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2014. Gary was a retired Guard from Menard Correctional Center. He was a member of Ava Missionary Baptist Church, Ava, IL and Alma Lodge A.F. & A.M. #497, Steeleville, IL.

Gary is survived by his children: Melanie VanAusdoll of Ava, IL, Bill Jon Stout of Ava, IL; his grandchildren: Trevor (Nyoka) VanAusdoll, Nina Stout, Jessica Stout, Jacob Stout, Damion Stout; his great grandchildren: Madlynn VanAusdoll, River VanAusdoll, Amelia VanAusdoll; and another great granddaughter expected soon.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, Terry Stout and Nelson Stout, and a sister.
