AVA – Lorene L. Cottom, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Illinois.

Lorene was born on November 12, 1938, in Perry County, IL, the daughter of Roscoe and Lillian (Mitchell) Armstrong. She married Lavern Cottom on January 2, 1965, in Pinckneyville, IL. Lorene was a farm wife and homemaker.

Lorene is survived by her husband, Lavern Cottom of Ava, IL, her children: Debbie (Don) Engleman of Pinckneyville, IL, Vicky (Jeff) Jones of Pinckneyville, IL, Kevin (Stacy) Cottom of Ashley, IL, Mark Cottom of Ava, IL; her grandchildren: Logan and Hunter Jones, Abby and Allie Cottom, Samantha and Taylor Cottom; and her brother Glenn (Sue) Armstrong of Steeleville, IL.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laberta Harrell.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Pastor Marty DeRoche officiating. Burial to follow at Cottom Cemetery, Cutler, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, where friends may call on Tuesday, from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
