Obituary

After a battle with ovarian cancer of almost 2 years, Linda Lee Foote (nee Shimp) passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016, in her home at the age of 70.

Linda was born to her parents, Louise "Betty" and Clayton D. Shimp Jr. in Bridgeton, NJ. She grew up in a loving family, being one of six children. She attended Woodstown High School and in 1965, she married John T. Foote. She traveled with him during his naval enlistment to places as far as Naples, Italy. They relocated to Southern Illinois finally landing in Steeleville in 1980. She worked at Gilster Mary-Lee for 18 years. She enjoyed puzzles, word searches, reading and sewing. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church Blanket Makers and the Steeleville American Legion Auxiliary.

Linda is survived by her husband, children, brother and sister. John C. Foote (Dacia) and Kenneth Foote (Lela); her sons, both from Steeleville, IL. Her daughters Nicola Stallman (Scott) from Oceanside, CA and Tiffany Homan (Nathan) from Pinckneyville, IL. Her brother Clayton D. Shimp III (Kathryn), her sister Mary P. Jones (Thomas), her brother-in-law Jon Usinger and her nephew and many nieces. Her grandchildren: Drake, Willow, Bailey & Cora Foote, Rachel Hemmings, Carissa Deal, Kendra Hemmings & Nicola Weiler (nee Foote), Reed, Drew & Sean Stallman and Morgan & Sheldon Simpson, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her two cats Izzy and Suzie and her dog, Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ann Usinger and her brothers Albert and Arthur P. Shimp.

Condolences received from 9am to 11am at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, IL. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 30, at 11am. Cremains will be interred immediately after the service at the family plot in St. Mark's Cemetery. A reception will follow, all are welcome.
