STEELEVILLE – Linda L. Appel, 71, of Steeleville, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, Illinois.

Linda was born in Chester, IL, on August 11, 1951, the daughter of Claude P. and Laura L. (Reames) Husband, Sr. She married Robert Appel on September 4, 1971, in Carbondale, IL. Linda was a retired teacher from the Steeleville Public Grade School, after teaching kindergarten and first grade for over thirty years. She was a member of the Steeleville Baptist Church, Steeleville, IL, where she taught Sunday school for fifty plus years.

Surviving is her husband, Robert Appel of Steeleville, IL, her children: Sara Appel of Jackson, Mo, Marc (Jaydee) Appel of Steeleville, IL; her granddaughter, Caitlyn, her mother, Laura Husband of Steeleville, IL, her siblings: Claude (Elaine) Husband, Jr, of Steeleville, IL, Edie (James) Ernsting of Steeleville, IL, and Emma (Paul) Wolters of Percy, IL.

Linda is preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, and then on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 7:30 – 10:00 am.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Tim McIntyre and Pastor Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery, Rockwood, IL.
