STEELEVILLE – Lillian B. Sternberg, 100, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Three Springs Lodge, Chester, Illinois.

Lillian was born on February 19, 1924, in Conant, IL, the daughter of George W. and Hulda (Caupert) Beck. She married Wilbern A. "Cotton" Sternberg on May 27, 1950, in Steeleville, IL. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1999. Lillian was a retired Deputy Clerk for the Village of Steeleville, IL. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, BBK American Legion Auxiliary Post 480, Steeleville, IL, and the Lutheran Church Women's Group.

Lillian is survived by her son, Scott (Vickey) Sternberg of Steeleville, IL, her grandchildren: Dawn (Kenneth) Booker of Red Bud, IL, Christopher (Hilary) Sternberg of Red Bud, IL, Brandon Sternberg of Steeleville, IL; her great grandchildren: Bailey Booker, Cole Booker, Trent Sternberg, Macy Sternberg, Hayden Sternberg, and Charli Sternberg.

Lillian was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Elaine Sanders, three brothers: George Beck, Arnold Beck, and Herman Beck.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Ken Tegtmeier and Parish Minister Assistant Julie Posth officiating. Burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, where friends may call from noon till time of service.
