STEELEVILLE - Leslie James Troue, 68, of Steeleville, passed away at his home in Steeleville on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Leslie was born on November 26, 1946 in Red Bud, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Ethel Meyerhoff Troue. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on December 8, 1946 by Pastor J. Mueller at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville. In his youth, he moved to Chester, attended St. John's Lutheran School for 8 years and was confirmed by Pastor Eric Cash on April 10, 1960. On June 8, 1968, he married Eldean Liefer at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill. He was a veteran of the US Army. Leslie was a carpenter, was employed as a coal miner and retired from Menard Penitentiary in Chester after 23 years of service. Leslie is survived by his wife, Eldean Troue of Steeleville; one son, Mark (Cindy) Troue of Percy; one daughter, Tiffany (Chuck) Denyer of Maryville, TN; 7 grandchildren, Seth, Haley, Ethan, Zach, Karley, Stacy and Charles; 2 great grandchildren; one brother, Larry (JoAnn) Troue of Murphysboro. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 21, 2015 at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Kelly Bedard officiating. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Sunday and on Monday from 9 am until 1 pm at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran School or Wilderwood Service Dogs.
