CHESTER, Leslie Eugene Champlin, 55, of Chester, passed away at 11:41 A.M. Friday, September 09, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, IL. He was born April 07, 1956 in Alton, Illinois the son of John Champlin and Dixie (Pickett) Champlin. Leslie married Yvonne Harle on October 23, 1977 in Millstadt, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Champlin of Chester, IL; three children: John D and Lisa Champlin of Chester, IL, Michael W. Champlin of Chester, IL, Jaci L. Cavins and Billy of Royalton, IL; four grandchildren: Katherine Beck, Zackery Champlin, Autum Cavins, and Alex Cavins; mother: Dixie Eichelmann of Edwards, MO; step father: Wesley Eichelmann of Edwards, MO; step sister: Lisa Meega of Waterloo, IL; step brother: Raymond Eichelmann of Waterloo, IL; brother-in-law: Michael Harle of SC; several nieces and nephews. Leslie is preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and one sister, Connie. Mr. Champlin served in the U.S. Navy, in July 1975 to April 1976. He worked as a Laborer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 12:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Chester. Rev. Mike Fogerson will be officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The preferred form of remembrance is for the love fund for the family.
