SPARTA – Leroy Jones, 86, of Sparta, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Leroy was born in Marissa, Illinois, on December 7, 1930, the son of Ralph L. and Thelma Milligan Jones. He married Shirley A. Wilkinson on October 16, 1953 in Maryville, KS. He was of Protestant Faith. Mr. Jones was a self employed Commercial over the Road Truck Driver. Leroy was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Shirley Jones of Sparta; children, Gregory (Annette) Jones of Chester, Elise Bailey of Sparta, Sally Quick of DeSoto, IL, Nancy Buecher of Red Bud, IL and Ann Shilling of Sparta; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and sisters, June Ramsey of Zephyrhills, FL and Betty Bruns of Steeleville.
Leroy was preceded in death by his Parents and one brother, Jerry.
It was Leroy's wishes to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Hospital.
