STEELEVILLE – Leonard Thies, 76, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at his home in Steeleville, Illinois.

Leonard was born on December 26, 1949, in Chester, IL, to Raymond and Mable (Lindenberg) Thies. He married Nancy L. Wall on July 6, 1980, in Campbell Hill, IL. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2024. Leonard is a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Wine Hill, Steeleville, IL, and the American Legion.

Leonard is survived by his children: James V. (Debra) Jeremiah of Steeleville, IL, Marria (John) Koch of Chester, IL, Jimmy (Christina) Thies; his grandchildren: Harley Jackson, Patrick (Destiny) Bowen, Brennen Thies, Isabella Thies, MacKenzie Underhill, Emily (Michael) Silvestri, Lily Koch; his great grandchildren (several), his siblings: Dale Thies of Campbell Hill, IL, and Lela (Michael) McGee of Wisconsin.

Leonard was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons: Zachary Jeremiah, Christopher James; 2 great granddaughters: Kaylee James and Oaklynn Bowen.

Leonard’s wishes were for Cremation and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
