Obituary
STEELEVILLE – Leona I. Ebers, 93, of Steeleville passed away at 9 PM Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Rehab and Care Center in Chester.
Leona was born on August 11, 1923 in Murphysboro the daughter of Herman and Flora (Westerman) Ehlers. She married Amos H. Ebers on May 19, 1946 at Wine Hill and they shared 58 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on December 11, 2004. Leona was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, the B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480 in Steeleville and the Kaskaskia VFW Auxiliary Post #3553 in Chester.
She is survived by her two sons; Jim (Donna) Ebers of Steeleville and Robert Ebers of Chester. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother; Herman Ehlers, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with the Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating, burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM and then on Thursday from 7:30 until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church.
