STEELEVILLE – Leola G. Rushing, 79, of Steeleville, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Sparta, IL.

Leola was born February 11, 1941 in Pinckneyville, IL to Leo and Hilda Faust Ritter.  She married Maurice D. Rushing on September 4, 1959 in Pinckneyville, IL.  He preceded her in death on January 17, 2018.  Leola was a member of Steeleville Baptist Church. She worked as a CNA at Sparta Community Hospital and a homemaker.  Leola enjoyed being with her family, going to church, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball, and doing embroidery to give to others.

Leola is survived by her children; Lana (Ron) Mayer of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Jeff (Angela) Rushing of Steeleville, IL, grandchildren; Rachel (Tiglet) Besara of Springfield, MO, Jairus (Natalia) Mayer of Goodlettsville, TN, and Eli Rushing of Steeleville, IL, three great grandchildren, and sister, Dr. Melody Ritter Douglas of Louisiana.

Leola was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Virginia Klingenberg and Natalie Rottet.

Private graveside services will be held for the family.  Burial to follow.  Memorials may be given to Brotherly Love – Care of Steeleville Baptist Church and can be mailed to Wilson Funeral Home, P.O.
