STEELEVILLE – Leland L. Bowerman, 84, of Steeleville passed away at 3:27 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Leland was born on February 19, 1932 in Percy, the son of Archie and Ella Mae (Davis) Bowerman. He married Jo Ann Reiman on December 27, 1952 in Percy. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and again in 1958 to 1962. He then worked as a supply supervisor at Menard Penitentiary until his retirement. Leland was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, and a member of the A.F.S.C.M.E..
Leland is survived by his wife; Jo Ann of Steeleville, 1 son; Rick (Mary Ann) Bowerman of Campbell Hill, 2 grandchildren; Chad Bowerman, and Carissa (Richie) Boyd of Willisville, and 4 great grandchildren; Jordan Bowerman, Kyler Bowerman, Kay Lynn Brock, and Carsyn Boyd. Leland is also survived by a special cousin; Barbara Jaimet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son; David Lee Bowerman, 1 great grandchild; Ashton, and a special cousin; Danny Jaimet.
Funeral mass will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville, with Father Larry Lemay officiating, burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be held Saturday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM and then on Sunday 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Three Springs Recreation Activity.
