Obituary
CUTLER – LaVerne "Marie" Bixby, 92, of Cutler passed away at 7:19 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the Coulterville Care Center, just short of her 93rd birthday.
LaVerne was born on January 18, 1926, in Fort Gage, Illinois the daughter of Corwin C. and Johanna (Kempfer) Holcomb. She married Russell W. Bixby in 1946, in McCracken County, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1982. Mrs. Bixby had worked at the International Shoe Factory, and Brown shoe companies, and then Gilster Milling as an inspector.
Marie is survived by her children; Vicky McKinley, of Clinton, IL, and Russell W. Bixby, Jr., of Cutler, granddaughter; Kelli (Jeff) Vaught, of Greenwood, Indiana, great grandchildren; Lily I. Vaught, and Samuel M. Vaught, of Greenwood, Indiana. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bixby was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Private Graveside services were held at 1:30 PM, Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Cutler Cemetery, and burial will follow. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family with the arrangements.
