SPARTA – Lavern Bockhorn, 85, of Sparta, IL, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Red Bud Care Center, Red Bud, Illinois.

Lavern was born October 19, 1936, in Percy, IL, to Martin and Hulda (Weaver) Brockmeyer. She married Willard R. Bockhorn on April 28, 1956, at St. Paul's Church, Wine Hill, IL. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2022. Lavern was a homemaker and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL. She was active in LCW, Steeleville, and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, as well as quilting, canning, and gardening. Lavern especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lavern is survived by her children: Alan Bockhorn (Sherry Lindner), Karen Bockhorn, Linda (Bob) Marcinkowska, Donna (Rick) Woods, Michael Bockhorn (Benjamin Custer), and Joanne (Ronnie) Edwards; ten grandchildren: Korey (Melissa) Bockhorn, Ryan (Leslie) Bockhorn, Justin Bockhorn (Kendi Becker), Ashley Bockhorn (Chad Mahnken), Ross (Emily) Marcinkowska, Tyler (Abby) Woods, Brittany (Jordan) Beckley, Brooke (Jake) Hargis, Kaitlin (Alex) Behnken, Olivia Edwards; eleven great grandchildren, Morgan & Kyle Bockhorn, Logan & Rylan Bockhorn, Cameryn Bockhorn, Emma & Lane Woods, Kennedy & Jase Beckley, Harper Hargis, and Blake Behnken; sisters: Darlene Mayer of Steeleville, IL and Anita (George) Miller of Campbell Hill, IL.

Lavern is also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, two brothers, daughter-in-law, Stacy Bockhorn and a granddaughter, Megan Marcinkowska.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Matt Helfrich officiating. Burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Friends may call from 1 - 3 pm at the church. The preferred form of remembrance would be to the Warren G.
