WILLISVILLE – Larry L. Stout, 76, formerly of Willisville, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, SC.

Larry was born on February 10, 1947, in Willisville, IL, the son of Norman and Romalee (Carter) Stout. He married Deborah Stackhouse on October 15, 2005, in Warsaw, IN, having had 17 years of marriage. Together they moved from Warsaw, IN, to South Carolina 6 years ago.  Larry was a retired Chief Engineer for Cargill River Division after 10 years of service and was a truck driver for 12 years for various companies. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, 1964 – 1968 Vietnam, having served on the USS Altair, USS Sheldrake, and USS Towkee. Larry attended Grace Point Church, Irmo, SC, and was a member of American Legion Post #163, Chapin, SC.

Larry loved traveling with his family, going to county fairs, festivals, and car races, including demolition derbies. He treasured family times and all the grandchildren near and far. He loved telling stories, plus his purpose in life was to bring a smile to a person's face and an extra beat to their heart. Larry always helped the underdog (people having a hard time with their life). Part of his retirement was watching Looney Toons, the History Channel, Discovery Channel, along with serving his wife coffee each and every morning for 19 years. One of his favorite things to do was taking road trips to wherever the roads lead them, enjoying the country air, stopping for a piece of pie or ice cream.

Larry is survived by his wife of, Deborah Stout of Warsaw, IN, his son, Scott Stout, his step children: Kevin Osborne of California, Kirk (Tamar) Osborne of Wisconsin, Keith Osborne of Indiana, Holly (Andy) Ailes of South Carolina; his 9 grandchildren, his sisters: Brenda (Mike) Stewart of Ava, IL, Linda (Don) Wallace of Belleville, IL; his nephew, Keith (Tina) Bigham, his nieces: Gina (James) Hall and Jayne (Craig) Gratz.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 30, 2023, Wilsons Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Kirk Osborne officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Birkner Cemetery, Ava, IL. Friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service.
