STEELEVILLE – Larry Hartman, 72, of Steeleville, passed away at 12:03 am, Monday, November 27, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Larry was born in Sparta, on December 17, 1944, the son of Cleophas "Dick" and Elvera Knipping Hartman. He married Shirley Eggemeyer on November 19, 1968 in Walsh, Illinois. Larry was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Larry was retired from Egyptian Electric Co., Steeleville. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville; BBK American Legion Post #480, Steeleville; Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553, Chester; a former member of the Steeleville Fire Department; and an active Ducks Unlimited Member of the Steeleville Chapter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley Hartman of Steeleville; two sisters-in-law, Agatha Rheinhardt of Baldwin and Barbara Runge of Evansville; two nieces; two nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his Parents.

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville with Rev. William F. Engfehr III officiating. Burial will at St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm and on Friday from 8 am until the hour of service. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran School.
