Obituary
CARTERVILLE – Larry D. Gentry, 71, of Carterville, passed away at 12:45 am, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his home in Carterville.
Larry was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois on March 3, 1946, the son of Paul and Bertha Niemeyer Gentry. He married Loretta Eggemeyer on January 24, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh. He retired from World Colored Press after 27 years, and also worked at SIU Carbondale- Printing and Duplicating. Larry was a Vietnam Veteran of the Navy. He was of the Christian Faith. He enjoyed bass fishing, The Blues Hockey, and playing music and the drums with the band The Gents.
Larry is survived by his wife Loretta Gentry of Carterville; one son Derek ( Jessica) Gentry of Rockwood; one daughter LaRae (Jeremy Harms) Gentry- Wofford of Sparta; grandchildren Madison Wofford, Rozalyn Gentry, and twin boys Rivers and Redek Gentry; two brothers Tom Gentry of Freeburg, and Fred Gentry of Salem.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Jim and Don Gentry.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Cody Mileur officiating. Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville Saturday where friends may call from 9 am to 1 pm. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois- Blue West.Larry D.
