PERCY, L. Norman "Quillie" Quillman, 73, of Percy, passed away at 5:25 P.M. Sunday, May 03, 2009, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Quillman was born August 02, 1935 in DuQuoin, Illinois the son of William Quillman and Josephine (Dirler) Quillman. He married Mary Ellen Costa on May 4, 1968 in Chester. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2008. Mr. Quillman worked in electrical construction having worked for Illinois Power. He retired from Egyptian Electric in Steeleville as a Lineman. He was a veteran of the US Marines having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willisville; IBEW Local #702 in West Frankfort, IL, Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553 in Chester; BBK American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. Mr. Quillman was a devoted Cubs fan. He enjoyed bowling with is friends at the American Legion in Steeleville. He played fast pitch softball for years in the Steeleville area. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in their athletic activities. Mr. Quillman is survived by his children, Joli (Jim) Smith of Steeleville, Sherri Edwards of Steeleville, Gina (Joe) Cushman of DuQuoin, IL, Patti (Alan) Uchtman of Steeleville, and Robert J. Biermann of Steeleville; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Gwendolyn (Gale) Sizemore of Carterville, IL; one brothers, Clem (Linda) Quillman of Percy; special daughter-in-law, Mila Biermann of Steeleville and his dog, Reuben. He was also preceded in death by his Parents; two brothers, George Dale & Rayburn Quillman and One sister, Lenora Campanella. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Willisville with Father Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Percy Village Cemetery with military graveside rites under auspices of Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm with the Rosary being recited at 5:00 pm and on Thursday at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville from 7:30 am until 10 am.
