AVA – Kevin Dirk Porter, 50, of Ava, passed away at 12:39 am, on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at his home.
Kevin was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, on October 23, 1971. He was the son of Wayne and Debra Taylor. Dirk was a Veteran of the US Army, having served during Desert Storm. He received many awards, including 3 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge Grenade and Marksman Badge Rifle. Dirk was a member of the American Legion Post #975 in Dowell, Illinois, and the VFW Post #513 in DuQuoin.
Kevin is survived by his children, Dalton Porter of Belleville and Hope Porter (Devan Austin) of Ava; parents, Wayne and Debra Taylor of Elkville, IL; siblings, Von Hoskins of Elkville, Tresha Taylor of Murphysboro, Brenda (Matt) Phoenix of Ava, Shane (Melissa) Cobin of Indiana, Stacy (Tim) Hirsch of DuQuoin, Travis (Jenny) Porter of Elkville, Alisha Bowlby (Kevin Lipe) of Vergennes, W.A. (Amy) Taylor of Hurst, IL, and Kristen (Curtis) Wilson of DuQuoin; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Wrigley, Susie, Willow and Charlie.
Kevin is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Priscilla and Leroy Holt; and sister, Vicki Pribble.
Funeral service will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Murdale Garden of Memory, Murphysboro. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Sunday from 4 pm until 7 pm, then on Monday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.
