STEELEVILLE – Kevin L. Becker, 58, of Steeleville, passed away at 5:00 pm, Monday, March 30, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Kevin was born in Sparta, Illinois, on November 5, 1961, the son of Hugh E. and Janet K. Biermann Becker. He married Lora J. Downs on September 20, 1985, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. He retired from Illinois Department of Corrections, after working from 1980 until 2011. He started as a Correctional Officer and retiring at rank of Major. He worked at Menard Correctional Center, Pinckneyville Correctional Center, Big Muddy Correctional Center, and DuQuoin Boot Camp. Kevin was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville. He graduated with the class of 1979 at Trico High School. Kevin was active with the American Legion Baseball Program, and was the driving force behind the Jr. Legion Program. He coached in the community for several years, ranging from St. Mark's School Sports to other community sports programs.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Lora J. Becker of Steeleville; two sons, Corey M. Becker of Percy and Jason A. Becker of Steeleville; one grandson, Colby Matthew Becker; his loving dog, Molly; feline companion, Louie; his mother, Janet K. Becker of Percy; brother, Brian (Sheila) Becker of Steeleville; step father-in-law, Mark Tomich of Canton, IL; brothers-in-law, Mike (Lana) Downs and Tim (Pam) Downs of Canton, IL; four nieces; and two nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his Father, Hugh E. Becker; and mother-in-law, Victoria A. Tomich.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 pm, Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Steeleville American Legion, Steeleville. Memorials may be given to Colby's Educational Fund; St. Mark's Lutheran Church; St. Mark's Lutheran School; or the American Legion Baseball Program.
