GORHAM, Kenneth W. Verseman, 77, of Gorham, passed away at 6:41 A.M. Monday, May 10, 2010, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born June 30, 1932 in Cora, Illinois the son of Edmund H. Verseman and Rose (Darnstaedt) Verseman. Kenneth married Phyllis Shields on June 10, 1995 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Raddle, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Verseman of Gorham, IL; one son: David and Linda Verseman of Chesterfield, MO; step children: Jeff and Maxcy Shields of Springfield, MO, Cheryl and Bryan Mueller of Fenton, MO, Joe and Sally Shields of Vandalia, IL, Scott and Stacy Shields of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Tom Verseman, James Verseman, Mark Verseman, Andrew Shields, Josh Shields, Alan Shields, Emily Shields, Rebecca Mueller, Kate Shields, Abby Shields and Johanna Shields; three brothers: Carole and Eileen Verseman of Jefferson City, MO, Roger and Judy Verseman of Edwardsville, IL, and Archie and Rosetta Verseman of Murphysboro, IL; his beloved dog Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Verseman served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired machinist supervisor, a member of Christ Lutheran Church Jacob, Illinois and a member of the Usher Staff. Kenneth was also a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post #127, Murphysboro, IL as well at the V.F.W. post #7190 of Murphysboro, IL. He presently a trustee for the village of Gorham. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob. Rev. Mike Kettner of Christ Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gorham, Illinois with Military Honors. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, Illinois on Friday from 5 to 8pm and then on Saturday from 10 to 11am at Christ Lutheran Church, Jacob, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran School or Christ Lutheran Building Fund
