Obituary

STEELEVILLE – Kenneth Schrader, 74, passed away at 1:05 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at his home in Steeleville.

Kenneth was born in Steeleville, Illinois, on October 22, 1941, the son of Elmer H. and Selma Dierks Schrader.  He married Rita Meyer on August 26, 1967 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, Illinois.  He retired from Peabody Coal Baldwin #1 in Marissa, Illinois.  Kenneth was a US Air Force veteran having served from 1959 until 1963.  He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville; B.B.K. American Legion Post #480, Steeleville and UMW of A Local 1820.  Kenneth was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.  He enjoyed working on Ford Mustangs, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family and especially enjoyed the 4th of July at his Parent's home with family and friends and homemade ice cream.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Rita Schrader of Steeleville; his children, Tina (Tal) Rozene of Effingham, IL, Paul (Kasia) Schrader of Livermore, CA, Robert (Sandy) Schrader of Carmel, IN, Ann (Nathan) Ratchford of Rolla, MO, Elizabeth (Randy) Stanton of Georgetown, TX, Alisa (Sam) Cope of Auburn, IL; grandchildren, Ethan and Ada Rozene, Cameron and Erin Schrader, Ara and Eli Ratchford, Cole and Cara Stanton and Joseph Cope; and one sister, Donna (Ken) Kober of Collinsville, IL.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his Parents; one grandson, Ryan Schrader; one sister, Ruth Schnoeker; one brother-in-law, Norlyn Schnoeker; and one niece, Stacey Roscow.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating.  Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 am until the hour of service.  Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Percy or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
