CHESTER, Kay Francis Kempfer, 63, of Chester, passed away at 3:40 A.M. Thursday, October 07, 2010, at her home in Chester, IL. She was born April 10, 1947 in East St. Louis, Illinois the daughter of William C. Baker and Leota (Cheatham) Baker. Kay married Darrell Gene Kempfer Sr. on April 4, 1966 in Sparta, Illinois. Darrell passed away on February 22, 2009. She is survived by her children: Pam Hartmann of Chester, IL, Darrell and Chris Kempfer Jr. of Percy, IL, Timothy and Karen Kempfer of Chester, IL, James Kempfer of Marion, IL, Chad and Nicole Kempfer of New Athens, IL; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law, Dennis Hartmann and one grandson. Mrs. Kempfer was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Chester, IL. She was a CNA where she worked in a nursing home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville. Bro. Jeff Chandler and Rev. Phillip Keeton will be officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, IL. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Friday from 5-8 PM and then on Saturday from 7:30 to 11 am. Memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice.
