CAMPBELL HILL – Karla Gaye Rathert, 63, of Campbell Hill passed away at 6:30 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Karla was born on April 13, 1954, in Murphysboro, the daughter of E. Ray and Mary C. (Mickey) Grimes Jacquot. Karla married Larry D. Rathert on October 15, 1976, at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Murphysboro, and they shared 41 years of marriage. She was a retired property manager for Budslick Management.
Mrs. Rathert was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, a former member of the Campbell Hill Fire Department Auxiliary. She was elected in 1997 as Supervisor of Bradley Township, founder and organizer of "Our Gang Variety Show" for 27 years at the Campbell Hill Picnic. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and friends. Her grandson was the light of her life. She enjoyed helping others in any way, shape, or form she could. Karla has a talent for sewing and crafting. She always believed. If you had the chance to know Karla you were a lucky person.
Karla is survived by her husband; Larry D. Rathert, of Campbell Hill, 1 daughter; Rebecca Rathert, of Campbell Hill, and 1 grandson; Lucas Rathert, of Campbell Hill. She is also survived by her mother; Mickey Korando, of Murphysboro, 1 brother; Earl (Beth Ann) Jacquot, of Murphysboro, 3 sisters; Karen Muller, of Arnold, Missouri, Marsha (Ted) Baker, of Murphysboro, Lisa (John) Budslick, of Bradenton, Florida, 1 brother – in – law; Jim (Linda) Rathert, of Campbell Hill, 3 sister – in – laws; Mary Ehlers, of Campbell Hill, Karen (Robert) Hayes, of Sparta, and Bonnie (Jack) David, of St. Charles, Missouri, and survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; Ray Jacquot, step father; Leo Korando, grandmother; Mildred Reiman, grandfather; Earl McBride, grandparents; Frank and Mae Jacquot, brother – in – law; Harold D. Ehlers, and a goddaughter; Courtney Dawn Rieckenberg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, October 23, 2017, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, with Rev. Karen McNeall – Utecht assisted by Debra Rathert, Lay Minister officiating, and burial will follow at the St. Luke's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava where friends may call from 4 to 8 PM, and then on Monday from 7:30 to 9 AM, and then from 10 to 11 at the church. Memorials may be made to Celtic Hospice or donations may be made to a college fund for Lucas.
