STEELEVILLE – Karen Elaine Meyerhoff, 79, of Steeleville, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, IL.
She was born April 12, 1947, in Belzoni, MS, the daughter of the late Edgar Coalson and Stelle (Duggan) Robertson. She married Roger “Fritz” Meyerhoff on June 14, 1969, in Sparta; he preceded her in death May 15, 2015.
Karen worked at American Device in Steeleville for nearly 30 years, retiring as a purchasing manager. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her boxers, researching her family tree, shopping, going on road trips, making flower arrangements, and watching Westerns (especially John Wayne).
She is survived by two sons: Brett Meyerhoff of Steeleville, IL, and Brad (Jennifer) Meyerhoff of Fulton, MO; five grandchildren: Brianna (Blake) George, Brennan Meyerhoff, Braden Meyerhoff, Carter Meyerhoff, and Maddox Meyerhoff; one great-grandson, Revere George; two sisters-in-law, Norma Steffens and Ruby (John) Brown; one brother-in-law, Robert Hougland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; stepfather Roy Robertson; six sisters, Evelyn (Lamar) Kiker, Billye (Cecil) Millwood, Virginia Coalson, Joy McIver, Jo Ann (Al) Sickinger, and Sandy Beard; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Hougland and Brenda Beattie; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Steffens and Jim Beattie.
Karen’s wishes were for cremation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, and can be mailed to Wilson’s Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
