PINCKNEYVILLE – June Deppe Dewey, 97, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria, IL, surrounded by her loving family. She had previously resided in Pinckneyville, IL, and Percy, IL.
June was born on June 17, 1926, in Chester, IL, the daughter of Guy and Willa (nee Muench) Hetherington. She married Roy Dale Deppe on July 28, 1946, however legal records show the date to be July 25, 1946. After his passing on March 13, 2002, she later married Larry Dewey on November 26, 2006. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2013. June was previously a member of the United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville and Wesley United Methodist Church in Percy.
For many years she owned and operated "June's Beauty Shop" out of her home salon in Percy. She enjoyed cruise travel, ballroom dancing, volunteering at Caring and Sharing Thrift Store in Pinckneyville, and spending time with her family. June had a remarkable tenacity for life. Her grandchildren will remember her for her infectious smile that could brighten any room. She loved the Lord and derived strength from Him to help her through the ups and downs of life.
June is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (nee Schaffner) Deppe of Morton, IL, her grandchildren: Alicia (Kevin) Kavanaugh of Frankfort, IL, L. Matthew (Amy) Deppe of Red Wing, MN, Nathan (Kari) Deppe of West Lafayette, IN, Lauren Deppe of West Peoria, IL; and eleven great grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by both of her husbands, her parents, one brother, Donald (Melba) Hetherington and her son Larry Dale Deppe.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, beginning at 10:00 am, with a Memorial service following at 11:00, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL. Burial will follow at Percy Village Cemetery, Percy, IL. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Apostolic Christian Skylines, Peoria, IL, or Caring and Sharing (Memo: Scholarship Fund) and can mailed in c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
