MURPHYSBORO - Joyce June Brown, 89, of Chesterfield, MO, formerly of Murphysboro, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her home.

Joyce was born on August 11, 1936, in Anna, IL, to Emery E. and Myrtle Brooks (nee Gibbs) Hood. She married Herbert J. Brown. Before moving to Delmar Gardens, Chesterfield, she lived in Florissant, Mo and belonged to St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Church. She is with her Savior, her husband and her parents now.

Joyce is survived by her children: Linda M. Brown, Michael D. Brown, Lisa D. Brown and Robert G. (Nicole) Brown; her brother, Howard Hood, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded is death by her husband, Herbert James Brown, her parents and her brother, Jerald Hood.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, 12:30 pm, at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Ava, IL. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday morning, where friends may call from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
