PERCY – Joy Underdown, 64, of Percy, passed away at 4:22 am, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at home in Percy.

Joy was born in Eldorado, Illinois, on March 13, 1961, the daughter of Norman Mathews and T. Ruth Church. She married John Underdown on July 22, 2011, in Murphysboro, Illinois. She worked at American Card Mark in Marion, Illinois. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Joy is survived by her husband, John Underdown of Marion; children, Crystal Farris of Steeleville, Mikey Foster of Steeleville, and Eric (Mindy) Foster of Steeleville; grandchildren Landyn and JonMikel Farris, Austin and Jordan Owen, Levi Moonier, Mariah Major, and Hallie Moonier; great grandchildren, Oaklyn, Mavrick, Beau, Jackie, Harper and Elena; mother, T. Ruth Smith of Percy; brother, Larry (Kathy) Mathews of Kenosha, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Joy was preceded in death by her father, Norman; brother, Eddy Mathews; and son-in-law, Bradley Farris.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Rev. Wesley C. Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Cutler Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 11 am until 1 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
