WILLISVILLE – Joseph R. Bierman, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Illinois.

Joseph was born on October 31, 1935, in Willisville, IL, the son of Arthur and Rose (McDaniel) Bierman. He married Darlene Sprietler on June 1, 1957, in Preston, IL. Joseph was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1958 to 1960. He had retired from World Color Press, Sparta, IL. Joseph was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL, and was very active in the church, serving as Chairman of Congregation and Elder. He was an avid Cardinal fan and loved gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. Joseph was active in community affairs, served on the village council and was Mayor for 2 terms.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Darlene Bierman of Willisville, IL, his children: Loreen Bierman of Flora, IL, Rose (Danny) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, IL, daughter-in-law Roseann Bierman of Sparta, IL; his grandchildren: Jessica Booker, Jon Booker, Tyler (Sarah) Bierman, Samantha Bierman, Mike (Kailee) Wetzel, Chad (Anne) Wetzel, Danny Paul (Mikka) Kellerman, Myles (Brittany) Kellerman; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, and sibling, A.G. Bierman of Chester, IL.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Randall, a sister, Joan Wydecke, a great granddaughter, Stormie, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial to follow at Percy Village Cemetery, Percy, IL. Visitation will be Friday afternoon, where friends may call from 12:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O.
