SPARTA – John F. Wright, 97, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, IL.

John was born on December 28, 1925, in Henry, IL, the son of Frank and Mabel (Keen) Wright. He married Evelyn Morris on November 24, 1949, in Tiskilwa, IL. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII. He was retired from Farm Credit System, Sparta, IL and was of the Protestant faith.  John was a former member and past president of Sparta Community School Board, Sparta, IL.

John is survived by his wife, Evelyn Wright of Sparta, IL, his children: Daniel Wright of Sparta, IL, Gregory (Rose) Wright of Buchanan, MI; his grandchildren: Michelle (Chris) VanAllen, David (Erin) Wright: his great grandchildren: Oliver, Hannah, Collin, Connor, and Hayden.

John is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Calvary Church, Sparta, IL, with Rev. Tim McIntyre officiating. Burial to follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL.
