WILLISVILLE – John L. Smith, Jr, 60, of Willisville, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at his home.

John was born January 16, 1965, in East St. Louis, IL to John L. and Maxine (Baker) Smith, Sr. He married Sharon Etherington on November 9, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, Cutler, IL. John was an Iron worker for PJR in Cambell Hill, IL. He was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Iron Workers Union #396, St. Louis, MO.

John is survived by his wife, Sharon Smith of Willisville, IL, his children: Crystal, Mikey, Eric, Tom, Sam and Ritchie; his 4 grandchildren, his siblings: Donna Carroll, Sandy Rieman, John Allen Russell; his mother, T. Ruth Smith, his brother, Larry Mathews, his sister, Joy Underwood; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eddy, and a niece Emily.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 1:00 pm, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Robert Spangler officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday morning, where friends may call from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home. Everyone is asked to wear their favorite Rock band T-shirt and dress casual.
