SPARTA – John "Mike" Loesing, 74, of Sparta, passed away at 9:05 am, Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta.

John was born in Sparta on May 16, 1944, the son of James and N. Virginia Morrison Loesing.  He married Carolyn Grefe on November 4, 1967 in Sparta.  He was retired from the Postal Service and operated local business in Sparta.  Mike was an Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta; VFW Post #2698, Sparta; FOE Aeries #3960, Steeleville; and Sparta Country Club.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carolyn Loesing of Sparta; two sons, Steve Loesing of Steeleville and J. "Duke" Loesing of Sparta; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dillon, Emily and Jack; one brother, Jim Loesing of Florrisant, CO; and one sister, Pat (Daniel) Bruening of Omaha, NE.

Mike was preceded in death by his Parents. It was Mike's wishes to be cremated.

There will be a celebration of life on August 18th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Sparta Country Club 19 Fairway Drive Sparta, Illinois 62286. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Shriners hospital or Charity of your choice in Mike's honor.
