SPARTA - John H. Mulholland, 83, of Sparta, passed away at 7:20 am, Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois. John was born on October 14, 1930 in Chester, Illinois, the son of John and Ruby Hilton Mulholland. He married Thelma Boyster in 1950 in Evansville, Illinois. She preceded him in death. He then married Fayette Mulholland in Detroit, Michigan, she preceded him in death. He later married Hazel Price on August 18, 2007 in Sparta. John was a Pressman. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta and Woodworkers Society of America. John is survived by his wife, Hazel Mulholland of Sparta; his children, Steven (Linda) Mulholland of Steeleville, Reta Grissett of Virginia, Evelyn Mulholland of Merrillville, IN, John (Nancy) Mulholland of Chester, Bill (Carolyn) Mulholland of Steeleville, and Gayle (John) McCormick of Sparta; 20 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; one sister, Helen Mulholland of Washington; one step son, Monte of Detroit, Michigan; and one step grandson, Zachery. John was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; and one step son, Arthur. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Tom Foster officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery, Chester. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville from 11 am until 1 pm. All services are private. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.
