Obituary

MURPHYSBORO: Joe LeMarchal Imhoff, 85, of Murphysboro, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Illinois. He was born November 14, 1927 in Murphysboro to Clinton and Lottie (LeMarchal) Imhoff. On August 15, 1964 he married Marilyn Sue Hollmann at Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob. Joe served in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorable discharged, he went to work for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Highway Maintainer. Joe then worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #702 doing ground maintenance. He later finished his career back with the Illinois Department of Transportation where he retired in 1991. Joe was also a lifetime farmer. Joe served as Republican Precinct Committeeman for Levan Township for many years and was active in the Republican Party. He also served as Levan Township Board Trustee. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro and in his earlier years served as the Planning Committee Director and was a member of the School Board. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion, as well as, a former member of the Murphysboro Elks. Survivors include his Wife of 48 years, Marilyn Sue (Hollmann) Imhoff. One son and daughter-in-law, Scott Joe and Angela Imhoff of Murphysboro. One daughter and son-in-law, Jana Jo and Stacy Barnett of Murphysboro. Three grandchildren, Jared B. Lawrence, Tyler Joe Imhoff and Chloe Jo Barnett, all of Murphysboro. Two nieces, Kathy Evans of Savannah, Georgia and Peggy Bunselmeyer of Ava; One Nephew, Bryan Hollmann of Murphysboro. Joe is also survived by several Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Sister, Kathryn Counce of Murphysboro, and one Niece, Pamela Jennings of Marietta, Georgia. Joe's hobbies included spending time with his Grandchildren, sitting in the yard at the farm smoking cigars while enjoying his grandpups, Abby and Molly, eating out and going to Cindy B's for morning coffee with his buddies. Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, IL with Rev. Joe Hoem officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11am to time of service.
