Jewell was born in Ava, Illinois on September 18, 1924, the daughter of Dave and Carrie Jarrett Easton.  She married Clyde C. Ripley on November 7, 1944 at Carbondale, Illinois.  He passed away April 17, 1995.  She was a Homemaker and was a member of City Temple in Granite City, Illinois.

Jewell is survived by two daughters, Susan Champion of Portland, TN and Nancy Johnson of Hartford, AL; one son, Richard Ripley of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dehlia Easton of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Jewell was preceded in death by her Parents; three brothers, Buster, Raymond and Calvin Easton; three sisters, Dorothy Imm, Janie Rath and Mary Kessel.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. James Easton officiating.  Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois.  Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 9 am until 10:30 am Saturday.  Memorials may be given to Hospice of Portland, Tennessee.
