STEELEVILLE - Jessica Renee Hostert, 31, of Steeleville, Illinois was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 24, 2019, in Bellflower, Illinois.
She was born the daughter, to John and Priscilla (Ackermann) Hostert on July 30, 1988 in Chester, Illinois. Jessica was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Wine Hill. Jessica was a strong believer in Christ. She served as the church secretary from 2005-2019. Jessica served as an attorney for the State of Illinois Appellate Court Fourth District under Justice Craig H. DeArmond in Danville, Illinois.
She attended St. Mark's Lutheran School in Steeleville, Illinois. Jessica attended Steeleville High School and graduated in 2006. After high school she attended Southwestern Illinois College, graduating with an Associate in Arts and being a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in 2009. Jessica attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduated Summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science: Paralegal Studies, a Minor in History with a 4.0 GPA and Lambda Epsilon Chi Honor Society inductee in 2011. She then attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale School of Law, earning outstanding recognition and honors: Dean's List Fall of 2016 to Spring of 2019, Dean's Scholarship Recipient, Lincoln's Inn Nominee, SIU Law Journal, Illinois Summer Survey Editor-in-Chief, and Women's Law Forum President among many other accolades. Jessica finished 1-80 with a 3.965/4.00, Summa cum laude and finished with a Juris Doctorate Degree in 2019. Jessica was respected and admired by her peers, noting that she would always be willing to help others without reservation. Jessica was also an extern with the Veteran's Legal Assistance Program in Carbondale.
Jessica is survived by her parents, John and Priscilla Hostert of Steeleville; brother Timothy Hostert of Steeleville; brother Mark Hostert (Tiffany Cowan) of Chester; maternal aunt Phyllis (Andrew) Pond of Huntsville, AL; and maternal aunt Betty Ackermann of Chesterfield, MO ; paternal uncle John and Ruby Brown of Steeleville; maternal great-aunt Dorothy Wolter of Evansville; and maternal great-uncle Ralph Wolter of Evansville.
Jessica is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Leona Ackermann.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Wine Hill with Rev. Sean R. Smith officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the church where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Organ Fund. Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family with the arrangements.
