ROCKWOOD, Jerry D. Wingerter, 69, of Rockwood, passed away at 6:52 P.M. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at his home in Rockwood, IL. He was born March 21, 1940 in Rockwood, Illinois the son of Joe Wingerter and Iona (Tindall) Wingerter. He is survived by his life partner: Patricia Fisher of Rockwood, IL; six children: Chester and Tracy Wingerter of Percy, IL, Virginia and Alex Clark of Absebon, NJ, James and Kelly Wingerter of Campbell Hill, IL, Sherry and Dan Siefring of W. Harrison, IN, John and Teresa Wingerter of Collinsville, IL, and Julie Brooke of Granite City, IL.; mother of Children: Elnore Wingerter of Granite City, IL; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother: Russel Wingerter of Murfreesboro, TN; Sisters: Wanda Cashion of Spokane, Washington, Marilyn Lawless of Pomona, IL, and Opal McIlquham of Martinsville, TN. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force during 1959-1963, and then later retired from McDonnell-McDouglas Aircraft, St. Louis, MO on September of 1995. He was of the protestant faith and was active in the Rockwood Community Affairs. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville. Rev. Cecil T. Dunning will be officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1-3pm at the funeral home. Due to Mr. Wingerter wishes cremation will take place his cremains will be buried at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Indian School in South Dakota.
